Black London’s Film Heritage Project was launched in October 2010 and Big City Stories will be completed in March 2011. The project has been devised by Film London to provide expanded screen time for Black screen heritage, new opportunities for London educational and community audiences, and training and support for BAME curators and event organisers.

Big City Stories is a high quality compilation programme of archive film material that is available for use in, non-commercial contexts, schools, colleges and universities, community groups, film societies and membership organizations across the capital. Big City Stories is a glimpse of Black London in the twentieth century, combining footage of significant public moments with home movie footage and fiction dramas of everyday life.

The programme is curated by June Givanni and Imruh Bakari. Assisting on the project is an aspiring BAME film programmer, Yvonne Connike, and Clare Holden an aspiring film curator. Marquita Bowen from Platinum PR is leading on Marketing and PR.
